Workwear for health-care personnel – GORE-TEX jackets

Managed-services provider Hunter Apparel Solutions Ltd has recently been awarded the prestigious Northern Ireland Regional uniform contract for Northern Ireland Ambulance Service (NIAS), which includes supply of GORE-TEX® jackets.

Bryan Snoddy, assistant director of operations at NIAS, commented: “The main change in our new uniform issue has been the procurement of a quality bespoke GORE-TEX® jacket, which was the result of collaboration between Hunter Apparel and the NIAS Uniform Committee. Staff feedback has been extremely positive, as the GORE-TEX® Jacket is not only very functional – offering foul weather protection – but is also smartly designed and portrays a professional image of the Ambulance Service.”

Gore says the jacket provides waterproof, windproof and breathable protection for staff. It has been rigorously tested, withstands domestic wash cycles of up to 60°C and complies with EN343, it adds.

A separate gilet, which can be zipped to the inside of the jacket, is also supplied. The final part of the system is a hi-visibility and lightweight vest worn over the GORE-TEX® jacket when required, which, says Gore, provides an anti blood-borne pathogen layer with wipe-down capabilities and complies with EN 471: Class 3.
