OutDry safety footwear
Safety footwear specialist Totectors — celebrating its 125th year in 2010 — has developed an entirely new range of products based on its in-depth analysis of the requirements for safety footwear in a multitude of conditions.
The company says the range features fresh new designs to appeal to the younger market, as well as the traditional solid designs for which Totectors has become famous. The guiding principles behind the new range, it adds, are comfort, slip resistance and light weight.
Totectors is also finalising an exclusivity partnership in the UK and Ireland with OutDry, to use its patented laminate membrane technology for Totectors’ premium outdoor range, and where there is a requirement for waterproofing. According to the company, OutDry uses a three-dimensional laminating process to adhere a waterproof, windproof, and breathable membrane to the inside of the outermost layer of shoes, boots, and gloves.
Unlike other waterproof liners or booties that leave a gap for moisture to seep in, OutDry’s technology permanently bonds to the shoe or glove, creating flawless fit with no folds, seams or seam-sealing tape, says Totectors.
The system creates a more waterproof finished product, reduces “wet weight” and improves comfort and dexterity. OutDry also keeps a healthy environment as a top priority using recyclable, non-toxic materials and is PTFE-free.
