Safety footwear – Dr Martens 101 ST boot
Based on a traditional ‘Policeman’s Boot’ from the 1970s, the 101 ST boot is described as a classic style developed from the Dr Martens archive.
With six eyelets, the style has a slightly lower height than a traditional boot, says the company, but is still sturdy and dependable, made with high-quality industrial-strength leather, and available in cherry red, or black with a steel-toe cap. A hard-wearing air-cushioned sole unit and Smartmask® PU-cushioned footbed ensure comfort and durability, adds the firm.
Dr Martens boasts 50 years of involvement with youth subculture, but the company points out that beyond its connections with the fashion and music of bygone eras, it has a more practical past and a long history with industrial workers.
Back in the day, footwear from the company was standard uniform for the Police — although some forces specified that the yellow stitching synonymous with the brand had to be penned in black to meet colour regulations.
The 101 ST boot is a simple work boot that offers both site credibility at work and style down the pub, concludes Dr Martens.
