Safety eyewear – Sperian Solar Pro

PPE specialist Sperian Protection has launched Sperian Solar Pro, a new safety eyewear product for workers for whom protection from the sun is crucial to performance.

Sperian says scientific research shows that exposure to even small amounts of UV radiation over a period of many years may cause cumulative damage contributing to chronic eye disease, as well as the risk of developing skin cancer around the eyelids. Solar Pro safety eyewear addresses this issue in a number of ways, says the company. The sporty, wraparound design is said to enable optimal peripheral vision, and the range of lens-tint options offer enhanced comfort and safety.

The polarised grey tint is said to reduce glare, and allows users to see small details without eye fatigue. The photochromic tint is said to enable the lenses to adjust automatically to changes in brightness so that users can keep the same eyewear on for both indoor and outdoor work.

Sperian Solar Pro provides 99.9-per-cent protection against UV radiation, adds the company, and its 100-per-cent dielectric design also provides superior protection for users working in electrical environments.

The eyewear is also available with the new, high-performance Supra-Dura anti-scratch coating, said to provide five times more scratch resistance than other coatings on the market, thus prolonging lens life.
