Plant-hire firm is up to standard

Plant, tool and equipment-hire specialist A-Plant recently received accreditation to the ISO 9001:2008 quality standard. The company is already accredited to ISO 14001:2004 and OHSAS 18001:2007 and thus claims to have the most robust and integrated safety and quality management system in the plant-hire industry.

It adds that it is also the first major player in the European hire industry to achieve certification that covers the entire scope of the company’s operations, encompassing more than 100 A-Plant service centres, satellite service centres and administration centres.

A-Plant’s director for environment, health and safety and performance Standards, Douglas McLuckie, said: “This accreditation will assure A-Plant customers that the company’s products and services are regularly subjected to rigorous, independent testing to ensure that they comply with stringent standards for safety, product performance, and reliability. The Kitemark is therefore A-Plant’s commitment towards maintaining the highest possible standards. It demonstrates to A-Plant’s customers the company’s continued and constant commitment to quality, customers, and a willingness to work towards improving efficiency. Through this customers can have complete faith and understanding that A-Plant orders are met consistently, on time and to the correct specification.”

The accreditation was announced just weeks after in relation to an incident at its site at Tovil, near Maidstone, in which one of its employees was fatally injured in a fall from height.
