New valve for gas cylinders: 42T
A new valve for industrial gas cylinders – called the EVOS Ci cylinder package – is a valve and protective guard, which the companies behind it say sets ‘a new industrial benchmark’ for cylinder safety and performance.
The valve comes from product design and development consultancy 42 Technology (42T) and Linde Gases, part of The Linde Group. According to 42T, the valve uses a quick-action lever instead of the more traditional hand-wheel mechanism and also allows users to see from a distance whether the valve is open or closed. 42T highlight other features of the valve, including a safety ‘interlock’ system to reduce the risk of the valve being opened accidentally and a guard mechanism to protect the valve while allowing access to attach or remove regulators.
Colin Haden, team leader for packaged industrial gas products at Linde Group comments: “42 Technology has provided Linde with mechanical engineering skills, as well as expertise in running multi-national projects to help design, develop and launch the innovative EVOS Ci valve. Their engineers worked closely with our in-house team and other partners and as a result we are planning additional joint projects in the near future.”
42T states that the EVOS Ci cylinder package has been designed to work with all industrial gases, such as argon, acetylene, carbon dioxide mixes and hydrogen. It is being rolled out to all sales regions over the next few months, says the company.
