New online service to help businesses select hand protection
Safety gloves manufacturer Polyco has launched a best-practice initiative to help companies select the most suitable hand protection.
Polyco has created a comprehensive hand-protection assessment survey, which it says will help firms to select hand protection that is fit for purpose. The survey offers the following features:
- A documented process that will support risk assessment procedures;
- Identification of areas where improvements can be made to save money and follow best practice;
- A review of existing hand-protection policies and an audit of requirements;
- Professional industry expertise and advice;
- A safeguard against expensive injury claims and time lost to workplace injury;
- A comprehensive report, highlighting the most appropriate specifications of hand and arm protection.
Polyco says it launched the initiative because of the increasing number of companies purchasing sub-standard PPE in order to reduce costs, and/or selecting an ‘all-in-one’ solution, when certain tasks their workforce carries out require different levels of hand protection.
Polyco marketing manager Mark Mastrangelo explained that some companies could actually save money by taking part in the survey, as they may be purchasing gloves that are over-specified for the work they do. He said: “Polyco is delighted to be able to offer this new initiative. It offers professional advice by hand-protection specialists to help and guide organisations to ensure they provide their workforce with the most appropriate hand protection.
“The survey asks a series of questions and drills down to identify the specific needs of the task. The results are compiled and our industry experts are then able to identify the specification of hand protection that would be most appropriate. The results are highlighted and delivered in a comprehensive report.”
The survey is free for companies who have more than 50 workers who require gloves. For more information, visit www.polyco.co.uk/hpas
