Hearing protection – Howard Leight

Optimising acoustic earcup design, volume management technology, and cpersonal-hearing protection, Sync™ is, in the words of Honeywell Safety Products, the next generation of stereo earmuffs from Howard Leight®.

Sync, explains Honeywell, delivers the appropriate level of hearing protection in hazardous noise environments, along with high-fidelity stereo sound from a user’s portable audio MP3 players.

The earmuffs are said to feature:

  • Protection from hazardous noise – with a reported SNR (Single Number Rating) of 31, Sync provides consistent hearing protection and ensures appropriate attenuation in most industrial environments, says Honeywell. The product’s Volume Management Technology™ manages sound levels reaching the user’s ear and stops them from raising the volume too high.
  • Plug in and go – there are no volume knobs, power switches, or batteries to replace. According to the company, ease of use is enhanced by maintaining volume and power control through the MP3 device.
  • Personal listening – Sync can be used with a user’s own MP3 player, mobile phone and other audio devices, and is suitable for use at work, or at home. Its acoustic bass chamber enhances the bass sounds that are often sacrificed in industrial stereo earmuffs, says Honeywell, thus eliminating the need for users to ‘crank up’ the volume.
  • Modern style – the earcup design is inspired by DJ styling, and sound quality is described as being on a par with other professional audio headphones. Comfort is aided by a padded headband.
