Certified to the ATEX 94/9/EC directive, Arco says the Sensear IS Smart Muff features a rugged design for heavy-duty and general use, and delivers a total high-noise communication solution in hazardous environments with potentially explosive mixtures of gases.
The IS Smart Muff is described as simple to use and extremely comfortable. It delivers faceto- face, two-way radio compatibility, Bluetooth mobile-phone and short-range (50m) communication without the need to remove hearing protection, ensuring that the wearer remains protected and productive.
Arco adds that by suppressing rather than eliminating all background noise, the Sensear technology enables the user to remain aware of his or her working environment and continue to communicate effectively while remaining protected. As most traditional hearing protection devices are designed to block out all sound, useful signals such as voices may not be heard, points out Arco. This encourages users to remove the protection and expose themselves to potentially damaging noise levels. Noise-induced hearing loss caused at work is preventable, concludes the company, but hearing damage is permanent.
