Eye protection – Protective eyeshields
ASE Corporate Eyecare Ltd is launching a new range of what it describes as innovative protective eyeshields complete with prescription inserts. The range is designed by Swiss One Safety and said to be glazed to the highest European optical standards by one of the world’s most highly-acclaimed manufacturers of ophthalmic lenses.
The premium polycarbonate Equinox eye shield is manufactured to BS EN 166IF and incorporates smart design with an eyeshield that gives the widest possible wraparound protection for clarity of vision, says ASE. The lens curvature has been calculated to optimise vision when combined with the prescription insert. The soft-foam brow guard improves impact absorption and comfort without the need for side shields, while the prescription insert can be easily clicked in and out of the frame.
The company adds that product entitlement, access and distribution are all taken care of via its intranet-based EyecarePortal, in a similar way to how employees access a VDU EyecarePlan. Employees make a request for eyecare and an entitlement voucher (the EyecarePlan) is sent to them by e-mail, or post. The employee can choose from more than 2700 UK affiliated opticians, and a dedicated customer service team is available six days a week to assist employees during their application.
According to ASE, other schemes often involve complicated self-administered pre-pay voucher systems, or hidden costs, such as a dispensing fee. ASE’s simple ‘pay-as-you-go’, all-inclusive price of £59 for a fixed-power range (or just £79 if the employer wishes to pay for the employee’s sight test), for a safety eyeshield and a pair of single, bifocal or even vari-focal prescription inserts offers unbeatable value for money, the company says.
The system is managed via a service that is virtually administration-free, ASE concludes, offering full traceability and including comprehensive management reporting.
