RoSPA take centre stage at Safety & Health Expo 2017

In the year that RoSPA celebrates its 100 year anniversary, the charity will  have 15 seminars taking place at Safety & Health Expo. RoSPA seminars will take place on each day of the event and will cover a broad range of topics including mental health, driver behaviour & road risk, leadership and risk assessments.

Head of RoSPA Scotland takes to the Keynote Theatre (which is sponsored by Honeywell) on Tuesday 20th June, moderating arguably the most high profile panel debate at the event. The debate, which will address tackling mental health in the workplace, will feature Dame Kelly Holmes, double Olympic Gold medallist who will share her own personal experiences with metal ill health. The panel will also feature Building Site to Boardroom’s Dave Lee, who has suffered with depression & anxiety and now works to reduce the stigma that surrounds mental health within the construction industry. As well as Martin Coyd, Head of Health & Safety – Construction, Mace, Dr Carolyn Yeoman, Principal Organisational Psychologist at HSL and Mary Lawrence, Partner at Osborne Clark LLP.

Driver Safety by RoSPA in the Field Service Management Theatre

All of this year’s driver safety seminars will all be presented by RoSPA and will take place in the Field Service Management Theatre. Andrew Love, Fleet Audit Consultant at RoSPA will deliver three presentations each afternoon in the Field Service Management Theatre. They will cover: how and why to use driver profiling; managing occupational road risk (MORR) in the UK and internationally; and driver behaviour – how to spot when drivers’ perceived beliefs don’t match the company’s, and how to challenges drivers’ beliefs & behaviour.

Operational Excellence by RoSPA

Day Three of the Operational Excellence Theatre (22nd June) has been completely programmed by RoSPA. As well as having Karen McDonnell, Head of RoSPA Scotland, presenting, RoSPA have also confirmed presentations from health & safety experts at St Edwards Homes, Berkley Homes (East Thames Ltd) and Geoffrey Osborne Ltd. Presentations include: governance over the risk assessment process; developing leaders to inspire action; and mental health & wellbeing. Additional RoSPA activities at Safety & Health Expo

RoSPA will also have a presence in the Professional Development Theatre, with a presentation on safe & healthy working. It will ask, what constitutes ‘good’ work and how does professional development help improve organisational performance? With the challenges of an aging population, it will also look at how progressive organisations seek to bring the best out in employees, whether they are young workers, adult returners or people who want to stay in work longer.
