Chief Safety Officer, DSTL

Lawrence is an IOSH Chartered Fellow and has 30 years of both operational and strategic experience in safety, health, and environmental (SHE) management and interactive training across a wide range of industries, specialising in construction. Lawrence is Chief Safety Officer for DSTL, the defence science, technology, and research organisation, having held the role of Health, and Environment (SHE) Strategy Director for the Costain Group immediately prior. A wellbeing advocate, he also champions a heathy challenge to eliminate harm, support and develop the next generation of OSH professionals and inclusivity, especially for those who are neurodiverse.

Tony Bough

Head of Health Safety and Wellbeing, RSA Group

Neurodiversity is something which I experience in every day life as a father of children who are neurodiverse and also as someone with Dyscalculia. I’ve worked in Health Safety and Wellbeing and also HR for a number of years through a variety of industries. Neurodiversity is a topic which is close to my heart and is something I volunteer to promote in my organisation alongside a lot of other committed volunteers.

RSA Insurance is my current employer and its been great in empowering colleagues to get involved in volunteering and providing peer to peer support etc. Also since RSA joined Intact Financial Corporation in 2021 we have extended that even further and work with our colleagues in Canada to learn from each other and share ideas.

Zip Kruse

Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) lead, IOSH

Zip is currently the Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) lead at IOSH. Her career began at Diageo, where she developed her skills in HR management and employee engagement and culture. Over the year Zip has had a long HR career working in the Care, Social Housing and Spectator Sports.

Building on a solid HR foundation Zip transitioned to Equality Diversity and Inclusion while working in the social housing sector where she established an EDI program aimed at promoting equal opportunities and enhancing the organisations culture.

Leveraging her expertise in creating inclusive work environments, Zip successfully made the move to the sports industry, taking on a pivotal role in establishing the Equality and Diversity Program for a Premier League football club. Her innovative strategies and commitment to fostering diversity helped to create a more inclusive culture within the club, benefiting both staff and supporters alike.

Throughout her career Zip has been committed to driving change and promoting equity for both internal and external stakeholders alike, consistently demonstration her passion for building inclusive and diverse environments that encourage authenticity.

Emily Castle

Group SHE Performance and Improvement Manager, Costain Group

Emily is currently the Group Safety, Health, and Environmental Performance and Improvement Manager for Costain. She started working in health and safety through work experience at Crossrail head office, and has subsequently worked on projects such as the M1 Smart Motorway upgrade, London Bridge station redevelopment, and two separate Crossrail projects in her previous role as a Health and Safety Advisor. In her current job she manages Costain’s internal and external SHEassurance programmes, and is also the chair of Costain’s Disability and Wellbeing Network (DaWN) which provides a safe space for any employees with disabilities, long-term health conditions, or neurodivergent conditions.

Neurodiversity is something that Emily experiences every day. She is driven to help other neurodiverse individuals by raising awareness throughout the construction industry of the challenges that they face, simple changes that companies can make to better accommodate neurodiversity, and the strengths that neurodiverse employess bring to the workplace.
