Signage – Photoluminescent Vynalast engraved signs

Maritime Progress Ltd, the UK marine signage business, has announced the arrival of its new Photoluminescent Vynalast engraved signs.

Described as aesthetically pleasing and versatile, the new signs combine the eyecatching attributes of standard engraved signs with luminosity when the ambient light is low, or non-existent.

Although the signs’ light-emitting qualities are already valued as part of safety way-finding and escape route systems, their properties have not yet been fully utilised by designers and naval architects for other purposes.

The Vynalast material is described as a tough, rigid PVC product, originally designed for technical applications of engraved signage. In addition to its excellent dimensional stability, high-tensile strength and impact toughness, Vynalast PVC is available in a variety of colour combinations, with either a polished or satin finish, says Maritime Progress. As a thermoplastic material, it can also be readily shaped and formed after engraving. The PVC substrate also has excellent UV properties and is extremely durable and resistant to salt water, which makes it highly suitable for outdoor and marine applications, adds the company.
