Interlocks – Castell KSD+
Castell has launched the KSD+, a new trapped key interlock power isolator suitable for three phase currents from 32 to 250 amps, which, the company says, dramatically increases safety and protection compared with conventional designs, and prevents fail-to danger.
Designed to the latest standard BS EN 60947-3:2009, the new KSD+ has been created with a nondirect drive interlocking mechanism. To further enhance the safety of the KSD+ and protect its user, Castell says the ability to switch the device on while the case is open has been removed through the use of a coded sensor.
The KSD+ features a stainless-steel enclosure that can be placed in harsh environments, making it ideal for food, chemical and heavy-industry applications, Castell points out. It adds that it is fully compatible with previous FS lock types, so can be used in existing interlocking systems. The KSD+ also uses end-coding technology and is available off the shelf within 48 hours.
