Electrical testing – Martindale Electric PD700 Proving Device
Now available from Martindale Electric is the PD700 Proving Device, designed for the testing of contact voltage detectors up to 700V.
The company stresses that all circuits and equipment that are being worked on must be proved to be dead, and suggests a good way to do this is by using a voltage indicator. But to be confident that this device is working correctly, the company advises checks to be carried out on it – both before and after the circuit is proved to be dead – via a suitable Proving Unit.
According to Martindale, the portable and sleek PD700 offers users of voltage indicators enhanced operator safety, as it can generate high voltages up to 700V, as well as lower voltages down to 50V, which can still be potentially dangerous.
Suitable for use with digital multimeters and low-impedance voltage testers, the PD700 also features an indicator that illuminates when lamps and voltage testers draw high currents, adds Martindale.
