Start Software says it is the first asbestos-software supplier able to support data capture on Windows Mobile, Android and iPhone devices.
The firm says it currently provides a flexible and efficient tool for the asbestos industry, from surveying to removal, known as Tracker.
The ‘end to end’ Tracker system has enabled surveyors to capture data electronically since 2003, says the firm, but with new applications for Android and iPhone platforms, the system now gives users the option of employing either handheld devices or tablet PCs, with sizes ranging from 5 to 10 inches. Surveyors will also benefit from carrying fewer devices, taking better-quality pictures and achieving increased data capture speeds, adds the company.
According to Start Software, Android and iPhone smartphones account for 90 per cent of new phone purchases, so it expects demand for the new Tracker applications to be high. Pricing is competitive and the same across all platforms, it says, allowing surveyors to ‘mix and match’ within a business, with different surveyors using Tracker to capture survey data on different types of device.
