Access hire firm gains gold accreditation
UK powered access hire company AFI has gained gold accreditation from the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme (FORS) for its good working practices in the way it operates its machine delivery and service van fleets.
The FORS has been set up to raise the level of quality within fleet operations and to demonstrate which operations are accomplishing the highest standards in London and the UK.
To progress from silver to gold, AFI says it had to show further improvements in areas such as fuel usage, CO2 output, performance measurement, and staff training.
AFI safety and environmental initiatives for its vehicles include telemetry systems to monitor driver performance, and a careful drivers incentive scheme and a fuel efficiency incentive scheme for drivers of its commercial delivery vehicles.
Under the careful drivers scheme, drivers receive a bonus to recognise their careful driving. The fuel efficiency scheme scores driver performance on a weekly basis based on acceleration, cruise control, engine idle, green band driving, harsh braking, over-revving and over-speed.
