Workers reminded ‘be safe be seen’ in winter

Safety workwear and equipment supplier Arco has announced the launch of its ‘Be Safe Be Seen’ campaign, highlighting a range of Hi Vis hazardwear to help employers improve the visibility of their employees.

With the aim of reducing the risk of accidents or injury to workers during the darker winter months, Arco has reiterated the importance of wearing the correct Hi Vis hazardwear and highlighted that it is a simple, cost-effective solution to ensuring that workers remain visible in any working conditions. The company point out that the fluorescent material that HiVis garments are made from provide day time visibility, whilst the reflective bands around the chest, arms or legs provide night time reflectivity, resulting in 24 hour visibility. According to Arco, their comprehensive range of HiVis hazardwear suits all budgets from Arco Essentials through to GORE-TEX® Garments, which have all been tested to meet relevant EN Standards, they add.

Richard Sansom, Product and Procurement Manager at Arco, said: “Arco is the first safety distributor to have its own in-house Product Assurance Laboratory which offers customers the reassurance that our HiVis garments meet or exceed the current EN standards and offer high quality protection. There are a number of fake and substandard Hi Vis garments on the market which are putting workers’ lives at risk. Our core purpose is to help people stay safe at work and we are committed to ensuring that only high quality, safe and reliable products are available to our customers.”

Arco has also announced the publication of an Expert Guide to Hi Vis Hazardwear, which they say provides guidance on identifying and selecting the most appropriate workwear to keep the customer safe. The Expert Guide covers an overview of EN standards and advice on combining Hi-Vis protection that also feature flame resistant (FR) and rain protection properties, Arco say.

In terms of branding, the company say that its Arco Clothing Centre (ACC) offers a branding service that includes all elements of the process from design concept through to delivery, adding that  specialist advisors are available to work with customers to determine the best option to conform to legislation and ensure compliance.
