Throwback Thursday: spotlight on health
Back in 1989, Gerald Robbins discussed a recently introduced NEBOSH course, Diploma in Occupational Safety and Health. Robbins stressed the need for more focus on occupational health, that health and safety should be looked at together, not separately as they can tend to be. He outlines the syllabus of the course and what it hoped to achieve.
This is something that is still relevant today as, although deaths from accidents in the workplace have reduced considerably, the HSE estimates that over 13,000 deaths a year occur due to worker ill health.
