Free information – Taking action on noise

In advance of Noise Action Week, which runs from 26-30 April, Barbour Environment, Health & Safety has added ‘The Barbour Resource Pack: ‘Noise at Work’ to its range of resources.

According to the information provider, 1 million employees in the UK are exposed to levels of noise that put their hearing at risk, and 17 per cent suffer deafness, tinnitus, or other ear conditions as a result of exposure to excessive noise.

Aimed at helping businesses manage noise risk to staff, the new resource pack includes:

  • A Technical Guide – which breaks down legislation in this area to make it easier to understand and easier to convey to colleagues and clients;
  • A Director’s Briefing – a short summary covering significant areas of the topic, including responsibility, competence, and duty of care; and
  • An Employee Factsheet – information on how to identify, manage and control the risks and hazards faced with incidents of work-related violence.

This resource pack is part of a series of new content to be added to the Barbour service. Future topics to be covered include occupational stress, musculoskeletal disorders, and asbestos.
