Worker dies following crush by telescopic urinal
A man has died after a telescopic urinal he was working on trapped and crushed him in Central London.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Cambridge Circus around 1pm (27 January). The man was freed via a winch after two hours but died after sustaining crush injuries, the London Ambulance service said.
Telescopic urinals or hydraulic urinals are kept below pavements during the day and emerge at night between 7pm to 6am. They were launched in 2002 in order to try and curb night time street urination in the capital.
