Well done- Post service wins top safety award

Postal operator Guernsey Post received the top award at the Guernsey Occupational Safety and Health Association (GOSHA) Awards.

The event was held on 26 November at the Old Government House Hotel in Guernsey, and marked GOSHA’s fifth anniversary. Guernsey Post won the GOSHA Award for a business employing 25 or more people, which recognises best practice in health and safety. It earned the honour after introducing company-wide health and safety training, and issuing a safety handbook to all of its staff.

GOSHA chairman Andrew Mills said: “Accidents and injuries in the workplace can have many negative implications for your business. These could include heavy financial loss, an adverse effect on your corporate reputation or the loss of valuable members of staff. So it makes perfect business sense to adopt good health and safety practices and Guernsey Post set the standard this year.”

Guernsey Post chief executive, Gordon Steele, was delighted to receive the award, he said: “It acknowledges how far we have come at Guernsey Post to ensure that health and safety is a fundamental consideration in everything we do.”
