MITIE wins Sellafield safety award
Strategic outsourcing and asset management company, MITIE, has won an award for health and safety performance at the Sellafield Nuclear decommissioning site in Cumbria.
The Sellafield Contractors Safety Award is handed out each year by the Sellafield Resident Engineers, who control all subcontractor activities on the site. The award is based on site visits and detailed audits of its contractors’ work to assess conformance and compliance within procedures.
MITIE provides a range of management services at the site, including: cleaning, security, engineering maintenance, document services, landscaping and pest control. The firm won the award for demonstrating exceptional management of its health and safety performance after it scored the highest in the detailed audit looking at total compliance, areas of innovation and outstanding performance.
MITIE account director, Gary Savage, said: “This award really means a lot to the team as it is recognition of our excellent performance and of the hard work and effort that the entire team has put into the contract.”
