Well Done- Construction team wins safety award
Local assembly member Joanne McCarthy presented the Tube Lines’ Beacon Award to the team. The station is currently undergoing a full-scale modernisation, which includes replacing tiles, installing new lighting and speaker systems, and generally improving the look and feel of the station. The redevelopments are taking place in the early hours of the morning, and during weekend closures, which allows the team to work uninterrupted for 52 hours. The beacon award scheme was introduced in 2006 and Wood Green is one of 50 Tube Lines work sites to receive the award. To gain beacon status recipients needed to display excellence in safety, cleanliness, consideration to colleagues and site visitors, minimal noise, management values, and flexibility.Tube Lines head of delivery Trevor Bellis said: “It is always a pleasure to have an Assembly Member come to a Beacon site and present an award. It shows the engineers on site that the good work they do is valued and appreciated. We take safety very seriously here at Tube Lines and this can be seen from our safety record. We are now 12 times safer than we were six years ago and this trend will continue throughout the station programme.”
