Safety firms star in British manufacturing exhibition

Two safety product manufacturers have been selected to appear at an exhibition showing the cream of British manufacturing.

Evacuation chair supplier Evac+Chair and rupture disc manufacturer Elfab have beaten competition from hundreds of UK companies to take part in the Make it in Great Britain Exhibition at the Science Museum in South Kensington, London.

The exhibition was opened today (24 July) by Business secretary Vince Cable and Business minister Mark Prisk. It runs until 9 September and aims to dispel the myth that Britain ‘doesn’t make anything anymore’, and to educate visitors about the value of manufacturing to the UK economy.

Evac+Chair head of marketing Paul Colder is excited that the firm has been chosen to take part in the exhibition. He said: “We’re passionate about UK manufacturing, and can’t wait to show people what a vibrant industry it really is. The exhibition is free and we’d really encourage people to come along and find us here.”

Elfab managing director Simon Keenan commented: “After months of planning, it’s fantastic to see our exhibit representing the British manufacturing industry in the Science Museum alongside iconic companies like McLaren and Airbus, as well as leading small and medium-sized businesses.

Mark Prisk added: “The future of manufacturing in the UK is bright. The Make it in Great Britain exhibition showcases a mix of forward-thinking businesses from a range of sectors, including aerospace, automotive and food and drink, which will give the public a real flavour of what modern manufacturing is all about, and demonstrate first-hand the exciting and rewarding career opportunities available today.”
