Safety consultancy delivers Libyan training course

British Safety Services (BSS) has held its first NEBOSH accredited training course in Libya.

The firm ran a NEBOSH Health and Safety at Work Level 2 course in Tripoli, which was delivered in conjunction with Green Land Oil Services & Supplies Co. Ltd at the company’s prestigious state-of-the-art science and research library.

Sixteen delegates attended the course from various oil companies in Libya from 21-25 March. The course was organised following interest from oil managers who are keen to meet international safety standards, and safeguard the safety of Libyan and foreign workers in Libya. They felt that gaining a NEBOSH qualification would help them to achieve these targets.

BSS managing director Pat McLoughlin said: “We are delighted to be working with Green Land on the delivery of the first ever NEBOSH Award in Safety and Health at Work course in Libya, and hope this heralds the way towards helping to raise the standard of health and safety training even higher in Libya.”

Green Land managing director George Borg D’Anastasi added: “We recognise there are great opportunities to positively contribute to the growth of Libya with regards to health and safety and we want BSS to help us deliver this training because their reputation is excellent.”
