Recruiter backs hazard-spotting initiative

Health and safety recruitment agency the HSE Recruitment Network is joining forces with Mencap to help raise industry awareness of the mental-health charity’s Safety Challenge scheme.

Under the scheme, employees are encouraged to identify and report potential hazards in their workplace. For every near miss reported, a donation will be made to Mencap by the recruitment firm.

Organisations including Skanska, Shepherd Construction and Areva are already taking part and have testified to the scheme’s positive impact on HSE awareness and performance.

The HSE Recruitment Network has pledged to devote all of its fundraising activity over the coming 12 months to Mencap and to make a donation following every successful placement it makes in 2013.

Commenting on the partnership, Marie Brown, regional manager at Mencap, said: “Mencap are very excited about working with the team at HSE Recruitment, as it will allow two like-minded organisations to work together to help people with learning disability. Through our flagship partnership, The Safety Challenge, and other fundraising that they have pledged, I am sure the partnership will be a great success for all involved.”

Chris Rowlands, director of The HSE Recruitment Network, added: “The Mencap Safety Challenge is an innovative, engaging and award-winning scheme, whose good work and achievements within the health and safety industry have gone largely unnoticed by many over the last seven years. If the HSE Recruitment Network can help raise awareness of the scheme, and help Mencap earn some much-needed cash along the way, then our partnership should be deemed a huge success.”
