PPE specialist rewarded for forward business thinking
UK personal protective equipment firm JSP has won a prestigious award.
More than 2000 companies entered the HSBC Business Thinking Awards and the entrants were divided into nine regions from across the UK. JSP was shortlisted as one of 54 companies to take part in a week-long Thought Exchange programme, which were held in Shanghai, Mexico, and Turkey.
JSP attended the Shanghai event and on returning from the trip the firm’s chief executive, Mark Johnstone, made a presentation to the judging panel at HSBC’s headquarters in Canary Wharf, London. The firm was later announced as winner of the central and east region, and will receive up to £5million in lending and a financial reward of up to £100,00.
JSP has an office in Shanghai and Johnstone revealed that the Thought Exchange programme had helped him gain an even greater understanding about doing business in the region. He said: “Despite having some knowledge, you never stop learning about doing business in China. It was a great opportunity to meet key people within HSBC Asia, interesting individuals and companies from their contact network, and understand how they can support a business such as ours firsthand.
“During the Shanghai Exchange I took some interesting insights as to how we present ourselves in the China market now and how we can improve on that to strengthen our market position and grow sales.”
The company will now vie for the title of Overall Winner of Business Thinking 2010 at the International Insights event in Hong Kong in December, where the financial reward for the winner will be doubled.
