NEBOSH environmental qualifications recognised by chartered body

The Chartered Institution of Water and Environmental Management (CIWEM) is now accepting NEBOSH environmental management qualifications as membership criteria.

Members of the CIWEM are employed throughout the environment sector in senior management, engineering and scientific positions in both the public and private sectors.

The NEBOSH Certificate in Environmental Management will be accepted for its new Technician Membership grade (TechCIWEM). The NEBOSH National Diploma in Environmental Management fulfils the qualification requirements for non-chartered member of CIWEM, entitling holders to the post-nominal designation of MCIWEM.

Commenting on the development, Paul Horton, CIWEM membership and international director, said: “As an independent, chartered professional body with registered status, we require our members to demonstrate high levels of professional skill and judgement.

“NEBOSH qualifications are highly respected and we’re delighted that they now form part of our membership criteria.”

The examining board’s chief executive, Teresa Budworth, added: “The CIWEM has a long-standing history of working in environmental management, which dates back more than 100 years. We’re extremely proud that our environmental qualifications have been recognised by the CIWEM as a sign of knowledge and professionalism in this field.”
