Various acquisitions, mergers, rebranding and other developments in the health and safety supplies sector occurred in October 2010.
Health, safety and employment law compliance firm mhl support is to re-brand, and is changing its operating name to Bibby Consulting and Support. The Staffordshire-based company is assuming the name to reflect its integral role within the Bibby Line Group. mhl support managing director, Michael Stade, commented: “During the last 12 months, we have come to an exciting crossroads. At the beginning of the year we initiated a strategic review to help us set some longer-term objectives. One of the review’s recommendations was to re-brand mhl support, bringing it under the Bibby Line Group banner.”
Arboriculture specialist BTS Group has opened what it describes as a state-of-the-art training and conference centre, which offers work-at-height training from basic through to professional level. The centre is based in Needham Market, near Ipswich and is said to be the only facility of its kind to offer practical and academic training to people working within the arboriculture, horticulture, and utilities sectors. It features a 6.3m metal tree, which allows trainers to simulate a real experience of climbing and working in a tree.
UK private-equity build-and-buy company Sovereign Capital has completed the acquisition of UKAS-accredited services firm ISOQAR Holdings Ltd. The latter was founded in 1991 and specialises in auditing and certifying management systems, ranging from established standards such as ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety), to an number of emerging standards like ISO 27001 (Information Security Management). The acquisition will merge the firm into the Alcumus Group, which already oversees the operations of subsidiary companies Sypol and Infomatrix.
