IOSH Conference: preview – HSE on the global stage
Dr Bill Nixon explains HSE’s regulatory approach and offers insights into how HSE and HSL have worked with other countries to help raise safety performance.
As HSE’s international director, Dr Bill Nixon leads efforts in HSE and HSL to build on the strong brand that both have internationally. He will be presenting on Wednesday, 18 June at 11:45am.
An experienced practitioner in the field of risk management, Bill has been involved in a number of programmes over the past 30 years, directed at enhancing the management of risk in the safety and environmental arenas, both in the UK and abroad, covering the public and private sectors.
He leads on HSE’s international work and is director at the Health and Safety Laboratory (HSL), an HSE agency. HSL’s focus is on providing health and safety solutions to industry, the Government and professional bodies.
Bill’s presentation will focus on generic issues associated with translating regulatory practices for other national systems. He will illustrate this with examples where HSE and HSL have worked with other countries. These projects include work with the Singapore government (Jurong Island), OSHAD in Abu Dhabi and in Hong Kong.
