Industry stalwart honoured
Roger Alesbury has been honoured with the William Steiger Memorial Award, which celebrates individuals from the social/political sphere who have contributed to advancements in occupational safety and health.
Roger is a founder director of The Occupational Hygiene Training Association (OHTA), a not-for-profit organisation that provides global training and qualifications programmes for the protection of protect worker health. He is also chair of the OHTA Leadership Group. The majority of his career has been in industrial hygiene in global oil and chemical industries, including ten years at BP.
Roger has a Master’s degree in occupational hygiene from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. He received the British Occupational Hygiene Society (BOHS) Diploma of Professional Competence in 1980. He has served on many British, European and industry committees on a wide range of safety, health and environmental issues and is a member of the Advisory Committee on Toxic Substances and the Council for Work and Health.
The Steiger Award was presented at the ACGIH® Membership Reception and Annual Meeting of the Membership on 15 May.
Roger has also written a number of articles for SHP on occupational hygiene training worldwide.
