Health and safety professionals invited to 3M educational event

Safety Network logoA free, educational event for health and safety professionals is to be held in October, hosted by diversified technology company 3M and with SHP online as the official media partner of the event.

Partnered All health and safety professionals are invited to Safety Network Live to celebrate the one year anniversary of the Safety Network launch – a website that enables professionals to access health and safety expertise at the click of a button.

Over the past year users have been able to benefit from the service through accessing communal discussion boards, educational blogs, webinars and exclusive downloadable training materials.

Those at 3M who developed the concept are now bringing all this expertise and knowledge together for Safety Network Live. The event will offer attendees the opportunity to listen to expert speakers, share ideas with industry peers and get involved with practical demonstrations, at the company’s head office in Bracknell.

The day will be jam-packed with informative and fun educational sessions such as drama based safety training, a face fit testing clinic and advice on how to boost productivity through health and safety excellence.

Don’t miss out on witnessing a mock trial staged by international law firm Pinsent Masons, which will explain what can happen when things go wrong and a worker is injured – especially in regards to the repercussions for companies, directors and senior managers.

The audience will play the role of the jury and will get first-hand experience of health and safety law in practice. The session will close with a discussion of the verdict, its implications and then an opportunity to question the legal team.

This free of charge event, taking place on Tuesday, 20 October, can also contribute to your continuous professional development programme.

Jenn Raymond, senior marketing executive at 3M, said: “With Safety Network Live we are taking our existing online platform and offering it is a live environment to give health and safety professionals the opportunity to interact with like-minded people face-to-face.

“It’s going to be a really fun and educational day, with lots to see and do. Our aim is to better inform those attending about important health and safety issues and to encourage them to relay what they have learnt back to their workforce.

“We want to see as many people as possible at the event so have opened it up to all health and safety professionals, whether they have used Safety Network or not. We look forward to seeing you there!”

Looks like a great event. I think the mock trail will be an eye opener for some. Say “Hi” if you see me there.
