Free information – Inspiring improvements in metal-worker conditions
The European Metalworkers’ Federation (EMF) and the European Trade Union Institute (ETUI) have collaborated on a publication summarising their recent efforts to improve the conditions of those working in the lift sector.
The two bodies signalled their intention in 2004 to carry out joint cross-border projects in the sector, which the ETUI says is characterised by unsatisfactory conditions for workers involved in the production and installation of new lifts, as well as in the maintenance and modernisation of existing ones.
The work carried out by EMF and ETUI is presented in a new 64-page publication in the hope that it might inspire similar initiatives. The booklet recommends bringing workers’ experience in line with the law and standardising the regulation of machinery and lifts.
