Festival contractors get safety passport
Approximately 10,000 workers, including lighting technicians, stage constructors and video and sound specialists, will participate on the course. The scheme is being run by Safety Pass Alliance (SPA) and follows HSE guidance for work at height and noise at work. Successful trainees will receive a secure passport, which contains a tamper-proof photograph of themselves. The festival’s health and safety co-ordinator, Tim Roberts, said: “We are keen to promote a pro-active safety culture for the festival, and felt the SPA safety passport is an appropriate health and safety qualification for contractors and their employees working at the festival site.“Looking forward, it will be a mandatory requirement for certain kinds of job, but it won’t affect volunteer stewards like fire marshals, who get their own training.”
