Applications opened for 20 health and safety diploma scholarships
NEBOSH have opened applications for 20 people to gain a scholarship for a level six health and safety diploma.
Michael Adamson
Seven UK-based and 13 international learners who are successful will get paid-for online study for the NEBOSH Level 6 National or International Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management Professionals.
The Michael Adamson NEBOSH Diploma Scholarship is named as such in memory of Michael Adamson who lost his life in a preventable workplace incident. His sister Louise is a member of the selection panel and a NEBOSH Ambassador.
Louise said: “It means the world knowing my brother’s name and memory lives on through these scholarships, and the remarkable people who apply for them, as they day-in and day-out strive to keep their colleagues and communities safe and healthy.
“Be they stories of heartache to healing, of commitment and care, or of overcoming adversity, each person who applies displays a desire to know more so they can do more to improve working conditions for others.
“Reading the applications is a source of inspiration to me, and I look forward to this fourth year of being inspired all over again.”
Those who meet the criteria will be reviewed by a panel of health and safety experts who will select the recipients. Other judges on the panel include Dee Arp, NEBOSH Chief Operating Officer, Matt Powell-Howard, NEBOSH Head of Product Development, Helen Tapley-Taylor, NEBOSH Diploma holder and Group Health and Safety Manager for Direct Line Group and NEBOSH Diploma holder and Egypt Operations Risk Management Manager for the Kraft Heinz Company, Mohamed Adam.
Advancing careers
The diploma scholarship is designed to give those in the sector the chance to develop the skills they need to succeed in the workplace, advance their careers and keep people safe from harm.
Logan Holmes received a scholarship in 2023.
He said: “To hit the nail on the head, it has been extremely challenging but equally rewarding. My studies so far have been extremely in-depth and insightful by taking a deeper dive into the role of a health and safety professional.
“This prestigious qualification is a remarkable milestone in any health and safety professional’s career, so give it a go.
“Everyone has a unique story and an empowering reason to work in this sector where we truly get to make a difference in people’s lives!”
Scholarship applications are open until June 11 and must be submitted through NEBOSH’s website.
