Alcumus SafeContractor launches survey to benchmark contractor management in the UK.
Nobody goes to work to get injured. However, figures show that 581,000 workers sustained injuries in 2018/2019, 147 fatally. For most businesses, zero accidents and lost working days is the ultimate goal, despite seeming like an impossible objective for most.
It’s not only the wellbeing of workers that is affected, failure to address health and safety standards can have a big impact on a company’s bottom line. For example, the injury of a subcontractor who broke his jaw while working at Tesla’s California facility contributed to value of the company dropping by more than one billion dollars.
There is a disproportionate number of accidents for non-permanent workers, with 70% of site accidents related to temporary works in 2018/19. Therefore, better contractor management may have the biggest impact on achieving ‘target zero’.
Alcumus SafeContractor’s survey is designed to understand the specific challenges and risks around contractor management, as well as exploring the tools and techniques which firms are using to address these challenges. This will act as an industry benchmark and provide EHS managers with insight on how other businesses manage and source their contractors and suppliers.
Data will be anonymised in the report, and analysis of the results will be shared with participants through a whitepaper. In addition, as an incentive for completing the survey, respondents will be entered into a prize draw to win ‘The View from The Shard and a Three Course Meal for Two at Marco Pierre White’s London Steakhouse Co.’ A winner will be chosen at random once the survey has closed.
The survey takes roughly 10 minutes to complete.
