Hazardous-storage system – Denios
Specialist contact-lens manufacturer CooperVision recently invested in Denios hazardous-storage systems. At its facility in Hamble, near Southampton, the company is using Denios high-capacity 2K 714 systems containers to accommodate industrial methylated spirit (IMS), which is the core liquid for the crucial process of lubricating the lens during the manufacturing process. CooperVision already had smaller Denios wing-door units, and an appraisal of the external storage area resulted in the two bigger configurations being installed.
Denios says each of the cabinets can accommodate 12 steel Intermediate Bulk Containers (IBCs). It adds that vital ventilation is built in to the system, which features zinc-plating and fully-welded construction, plus a three-coat anti-corrosion paint finish. Overall dimensions are 7000mm wide by 1580mm deep and 3500mm high. The overall entity conforms to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards, says Denios.
Keith Butler of CooperVision said: “The larger units mean more storage in less space and this has contributed to the tidier look of the area, as well as increased traffic space and easier movement.”
