Polish guides for forklift drivers
The guide covers the fundamental risks and best practice associated with safe lift truck operation.
If a foreign worker presents a valid certificate from another country, it may be possible to employ them but by law, employers have a duty to provide safety information specific to the equipment that can be easily understood. PUWER legislation states that equipment can only be used by people who have received adequate information, instruction and training.
Richard McKenzie of Barloworld Handling explains “We have seen an increase in the number of trained forklift truck drivers from Eastern Europe and have made our Safety Guide available in Polish to help employers maintain a safe operation where language may constitute a barrier.”
Company executives that do not ensure their staff are adequately trained may be found negligent and can face heavy fines and legal fees in the event of an accident, so companies should check documents thoroughly and ensure that extra training is provided where required.
