The proposed guidance is intended to cover workplace situations where there is a risk of exposure to blood-borne viruses (BBVs). Aspects of virology, legal issues, controls, and recommended actions post-exposure are presented.
A key aim of the guidance is to provide links to specialist guidance where it already exists.
It is now 12 years since the current guidance document, Protection against blood-borne infections in the workplace: HIV and hepatitis, was last published.
