Driver Risk Compliance – Fleet 21

Two directors of family haulage firm, AJ Haulage, were recently handed a prison sentence following a fatal crash involving one of their drivers, who, it was proved, was driving while fatigued and fell asleep at the wheel.
The directors were charged with manslaughter by gross negligence. Fleet21 suggests that sooner or later there could be a corporate manslaughter prosecution relating to the failure of an employer to meet their health and safety duties in respect of business drivers.
Fleet21 says it can help employers perform essential compliance tasks, such as introducing a good driver policy and ensuring it is communicated clearly to staff and followed closely, monitoring driving licences, and checking those that use their own car are correctly insured.
The company also helps with best-practice activities, including driver risk assessment, e-learning and advanced in-car training for accident avoidance.
