Travelling without moving!
‘International travel safety’ was the topic of the International Specialist Group’s (ISG’s) second web event at the end of March.
Over 80 delegates from 15 countries ‘attended’ the event which saw ISG committee member John Lyons (pictured) explain how to assess the risks of travelling abroad and the preparations you need to stay safe.
Sarah Hamilton, head of international affairs at IOSH, said: “Given the continuing growth of IOSH on an international scale, we have to use new methods to allow members to network and share their knowledge. The success of the two web events the ISG has run, shows that ‘virtual’ networking is a useful means of achieving this and the feedback we’ve had has been pleasing.
“It means delegates don’t have to travel thousands of miles to be there in person. They can view the event from the comfort of their desk, at a time that’s convenient to them.
“We’re hoping to run two more events via the web in the next 12 months, so please keep your eyes peeled for further information in the near future.”
If you missed the event, go to http://iosh.webex.com and click ‘View Event Recordings’. In there you’ll find a recording of the event — click the ‘International Travel Safety’ icon. For more information about the ISG, please contact Sascha Lemon at [email protected] or call
