Strategy focuses on continuing the journey

Members can now find out more about IOSH’s future aims and objectives by getting hold of a copy of the Corporate Strategy 2008-2012.

Entitled ‘Same direction, new focus’, the new Corporate Strategy can be downloaded from www.iosh.co.uk Highlighting the main achievements since 2005, the document also looks ahead and picks out the core challenges facing IOSH into the future.

Rob Strange OBE, IOSH’s chief executive, said: “While we’ve achieved much since 2005, including increasing membership from 28,000 to 33,000, becoming an international Non-Governmental Organisation and raising our profile both in the public and political arenas, we’re not complacent.

“We all know that there’s significant work to be done to achieve our vision of a world of work which is safe, healthy and sustainable. This document is very important — it recognises the major achievements of the previous three years, and highlights the challenges as an organisation that we still face.”

Among the targets for 2008-2012 are:

€ᄁ Raising the profile of health and safety and influence of IOSH

€ᄁ Increasing membership

€ᄁ Developing internationally

€ᄁ Leading occupational safety and health thought

€ᄁ Growing financial security in an ethical and sustainable way

€ᄁ Developing people

€ᄁ Managing IOSH efficiently and effectively

“I’d encourage all members to read the new strategy. IOSH, its members at all levels and staff, have a lot to be proud of. And I’m sure we’ll have even more to be proud of by 2012!” Rob added.
