SHP IOSH awards- The champagne will flow
Leading lights in health and safety will be in London later this month to celebrate the achievements of the profession.
The SHP IOSH Awards take place at the Park Lane Hilton Hotel on 21 October and it promises to be a cracking evening as the profession comes together to recognise the achievements of its top performers.
The black-tie event includes a champagne reception, three-course meal and a host of after-dinner entertainment to help you let your hair down. The Awards themselves will be hosted by a well-known TV personality — in the past these have included Clive Anderson and Marcus Brigstocke.
Awards will be handed out in 14 categories, including:
- seven industry ‘achievements of the year’;
- training initiative of the year;
- innovation of the year;
- campaign of the year;
- new entrant of the year;
- achiever of the year;
- consultant of the year; and
- partnership initiative of the year.
Also to be presented is the IOSH Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by Sypol, which recognises the achievements of an individual over many years to help improve the health and safety of everyone. Previous winners have included Professor Julian Peto, the late Nancy Tait MBE, the late Lord Walker of Doncaster, Michael Clapham MP, and, last year, Professor Peter McKie CBE.
IOSH chief executive, Rob Strange OBE, said: “The SHP IOSH Awards are one of the highlights of the year for me — it’s always wonderful to be able to give health and safety professionals the recognition they deserve for their work.
“Good health and safety is fundamental to the efficient running of business and, obviously, it helps ensure people’s well-being in the workplace. In this country we often fail to celebrate the fact that we have one of the best health and safety records in Europe — the SHP IOSH Awards are about changing that and showing that health and safety does lots of good work.”
Tables for the event are still available but going fast, so visit www.shponline.co.uk/awards.asp to book your place.
