It’s conference time!

IOSH members will be out in force in Telford this month as the IOSH 08 Conference and Exhibition returns to the Shropshire new town.

It’s a chance to catch up with old friends and make new ones while finding out all the latest best practice from your profession. The exhibition also gives you the chance to find out about all the latest health and safety products and services.

IOSH stand

There’s lots going on at the IOSH stand. If you want to ask the presidential team about what they’ve been getting up to, or to ask them about any other membership issues, they’ll be on the stand at various points during both days. You can come and meet the media team, the e-editor, and hear what impact IOSH’s campaigns are having with MPs and business leaders.

We’re also holding two ‘Meet the authors’ sessions, where you’ll be able to buy signed editions of IOSH books. Céline McKeown, co-author of ‘Workplace ergonomics: a practical guide’ and David Eves CB, author of ‘Questioning performance: the director’s essential guide to health, safety and the environment’ will be on the stand from 2.05 to 2.35pm on 18 March.

You can also take advantage of a special promotion on IOSH books during the two conference days — with bookmark discount vouchers offering 10 per cent off the cover price of all IOSH books. There’s also a host of IOSH merchandise available to buy, from ties, to hi-vis jackets.

Meanwhile, in the Group’s networking area, you can find out about the work of IOSH’s 17 Groups, and what they can offer you. You can also book a free appointment with a Group specialist, giving you the opportunity to gain one-to-one advice and guidance on sector specific issues.

Get questions answered

Members of IOSH’s Commercial team will be on hand to demonstrate the new Managing safely and Working safely packages, and explain more about the benefits of using our tailored course approvals service.

Our Membership team will also be on hand to answer any burning questions you may have, and you can also find out more about Continuing Professional Development and Initial Professional Development, including using MyIOSH to keep your records up to date.

The Policy and Technical Services teams will also be around to show you the free guides they have, and demonstrate their free tools, including Safestartup, the risk management toolkit and the Occupational Health toolkit. Dr Luise Vassie, IOSH’s head of research and technical services, will also be speaking about the first research projects completed using funding from IOSH’s research fund.

There will also be the winning entries in the Safety Sciences Group’s student research competition on display, and lots of best practice examples, information sheets and newsletters to pick up.

Make sure you check the schedule in IOSH Today to find out what’s happening at the IOSH stand.
