IOSH 10 – Learning from Disasters
A bustling IOSH stand was the place to be on Day One of the conference, as visitors gathered to meet author David Eves at the launch of the latest IOSH book Disasters: learning the lessons for a safer world.
Disasters looks at more than 90 accidents, incidents and safety failures over the last 200 years. It gives background information on each incident, looking at what happened and why, before exploring wider consequences and implications.
Said David: “Every inquiry into a major disaster demands that ‘lessons should be learned’ but all too often, those lessons are soon forgotten and the same mistakes are repeated again and again.
“This book includes stories of successes as well as failures. I hope it will reinforce our collective memory of the lessons we’ve learned from disasters and help someone, somewhere, avoid another catastrophe.”
