Initial professional development- Portfolio assessors needed
IOSH is seeking companies interested in assessing Initial Professional Development (IPD) Skills Development Portfolios (SDPs).
SDPs need to be submitted on a three-monthly basis, and are designed to provide evidence of a health and safety professional’s practice skills. Once this has been completed, and they have satisfactorily completed a professional peer review, a member can then be approved as a chartered safety and health practitioner, providing they maintain their Continuing Professional Development record.
Kirsty Iliffe, IOSH’s IPD manager, said: “Since IOSH started IPD in 2005, it’s been growing and growing. The scheme has been a real success, and we’re now seeing things really starting to take off. Over 4000 IOSH members are now doing IPD, and over three quarters of these will need to complete a portfolio. That’s why we need some external help, so that we can continue to provide the excellent service our members expect.”
To be considered, as an absolute minimum requirement, you must:
- be a limited company of good standing;
- have sufficient qualified individuals to manage at least 50 portfolios per submission; and
- have assessors who are chartered members of IOSH (CMIOSH) and hold the A1 assessor units.
To express an interest, please contact Kirsty Iliffe, IOSH IPD manager, either in writing or at [email protected] The deadline for submission is 15 July.
