Hurricane Katrina- Storm tales

Friends at the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) have been telling us about their experiences of Hurricane Katrina.

Thankfully, all were accounted for, but Gene Barfield, past president of ASSE, told us: “We were on the western edge of the hurricane and only experienced short periods of high winds and rain. Our ASSE friends and relatives to the east of Lafayette, Louisiana, experienced much devastation and their problems will not be over for some time.

“Many of the oil-drilling vessels were blown from their anchorage and are floating free in the ocean.”

IOSH sent messages of support and wishes to all organisations involved in the clean-up and rebuilding of the area.
