Development fund- Helping make members’ good ideas come true
If you’ve had an idea for an initiative or project which would help further the aims of IOSH or enhance the profession, then you may be able to benefit from the support of the IOSH Development Fund.
The fund, which first supported projects in 2006, gives grants of up to £5000 to IOSH members or groups of members. Occasionally, larger grants may be approved.
During 2008, the fund has supported a number of projects, including:
- sharing new course material on local exhaust ventilation with experienced Continuing Professional Development trainers, and providing free training to members;
- sponsoring the launch of National Men’s Health Week;
- piloting of a joint IOSH/Department for Work and Pensions course equipping health and safety professionals to manage health at work and the return to work process; and
- exploring the extent to which health and safety is included in specific courses in the Irish education system, and developing teaching methods and module outlines so that health and safety can be integrated into the curricula.
Dr Luise Vassie, head of research and technical services at IOSH, said: “Whether your idea is big or small, if you’re an IOSH member or group of members, you might be able to benefit from the IOSH Development Fund.
“I’d encourage members considering applying for development funding to run their ideas past the research and technical services team. We can offer you some advice on your idea and how to go about applying to the fund.”
So if you’ve got an idea, which could benefit from Development Funding, feel free to get in touch by calling 0116 257 3100 or e-mail [email protected]
