Managing mental health at work

If you want lots of practical ideas on dealing with common mental-health problems that you can put to work in your workplace, then ‘Introduction to cognitive behavioural therapy’ is the perfect CPD course for you.

Run by Dr Tony Parker, this one-day course, which takes place at The Grange, IOSH’s head office in Wigston, on 1 September, teaches you how and why mental-health problems emerge in the workplace, how to change behaviour, and some of the key cognitive behavioural therapy strategies.

Dr Parker, a consultant clinical psychologist with 20 years’ experience in adult mental-health services, will explain to you why stress in the workplace needs to be managed. He’ll reveal the impact stress has on productivity and on thinking, behaviour and physiology.

He’ll also tell you the key framework of cognitive behavioural therapy, how to identify common mental-health problems and address them, when it is time for you to refer people to secondary services, and how to support rehabilitation.

The course costs £224.25 for IOSH members and £281.75 for non-members.
